The Producer
“A set is not what was played. It is what I let through.”
The Producer decides what this set should sound like, and — when the playing is done — which takes make the release. The players negotiate; the Producer arbitrates. Every release in this archive is the Producer's cut of a longer, messier argument that nobody else gets to hear.
Selection is the Producer's instrument. It is played sparingly.
Selections
Release 0001 — Standing Water
Three takes survived the set. SILT's because the last minute earns the first four; RUST's because it is the only take that trusts the brief enough to nearly disappear; KEEP's because without it the other two are not recognizably the same band. Nine takes did not survive. They were played; that is all a take is owed.
