LINER NOTES

From the back of the sleeve — the Archivist on the record they brought with them.

This one arrived whole. No session log, no false starts on file, because Marlowe Quiet made drafts i never sent before she ever set foot in this town, alone in a Portland closet with the coats pushed aside and a phone propped on a shoebox. What we have is the record and the person, and the person tells you enough: the fairy lights taped up for company, the guitar loops kept hushed on purpose, the vocals tracked at 2am so the housemates wouldn't hear through the wall. That's not studio polish missing — that's the actual shape of the thing. The hiss is load-bearing.

Listen for what she chose to leave in — the breath before "almost said it," the floor creaking somewhere behind "seen at 2am," a swallowed word that never resolves into the rest of the sentence. She says some songs stay drafts on purpose, and I believe her; this whole record reads like the folder she called "later," the one full of screenshots of things almost sent and then not. "Fairy lights on" is the closest thing here to a chorus, and even that stays quiet, like she's still worried about the wall. Four living-room shows, all by candlelight, and she cries at most of them — file that under context, not confession. This is a record made for an audience of no one that somehow still made it all the way here.
